Art of Saree 

As we all know India is always filled with its traditional value, customs and thoughts  when it comes In india, saree are worn by women as it is one of the traditional outfits. It is  said there is no attire is as simple yet attractive as saree. 

Nowadays saree has become a fashion trend around the world which consists different  bright colours and design as it was worn for wedding or other event and there are huge  ranges of saree are available. In the past women used to wear sarees with an coated sleeve  blouse with no pattern and style but the trend has change. 

On May 6th , we went to Little India in Penang to do our culture assignment for travel  and writing photography subject as we choose indian clothing which is saree. At first it was  quite hard for us to find a shop that are not busy with customer because the day we went  there is on Sunday so there are a lot of people at Little India. Every shop we go are busy with customer. 

The other problem we face when we were there is not only that, the language barrier is  also a problem because most of the worker that work there have a problem in speaking  English and malay. So even though we found a shop that have less customer, we still can not start  our assignment as the worker there can not understand English and Malay. 

Although we were in Penang, it was not easy for us to find Malay or English speaking shop clerk until we found Pn Noriah(with hijabs). An employee of Rao Saree Centre. She explain a lot about  saree to us as she already work at that shop for 8 years. Before Puan Noriah talk to us more in detail  about saree, she get us to know about the fabric that use to make saree. The type of saree that have in the shop include the modern type is georgette, chiffon, satin, crepe and cotton.

Next, we would like to tell you about how to use the saree that we learned during our assignment about this culture. For those who never wear a saree or don’t know how to put on saree, they might assume that wear saree is to complicated and that’s what we thought until I was taught how to use it and how to wear it. Then we know that it is very easy guys! So girls out there you must try it. Here some steps that we learn about how to wear saree. So this is a few steps to wear a saree:

Step 1:

Start from the plain( non-pallu) end, and tuck in the fag end just near the belly button. Continue to swaddle from the left side,  and complete the round from behind till you reach the point.

Step 2:

Yank the saree to the front and begin the pleats roughly about size of the finger stretch from fare  finger to the thumb .

Step 3: 

Stow the pleats into the skirt and secure with a safety pin towards the left side of the waist.

Step 4:

Bring the pallu towards the left side of your shoulder, from under the right arm and pin it on the left  shoulder.

Step 5:

Of course put your makeup on, accessories and do you hair.

So these are a few steps to wear a saree that can make you look beautiful when you wear that. Its so easy right? It easy to wear it so you girls out there can try it by yourself at home. For daily wear,  we would recommend that you pleat up your pallu and secure with a safety pin and just like that, you don’t just know how to wear a saree but are also ready to enjoy five yard of elegent allure.

Now , we want to tell you guys about what should wear to a  funeral in India. From what I  watched from Bollywood film or movie, when someone died all the family members wearing in  white especially the Indian women wear a white saree. Now we know   why they wear a white saree  for woman. According to several Hindu traditions, white is generally a colour of mourning a Hindu is not without reason or significance. Besides, white symbolizes purity and is used to show respect.

The vast majority will want you to wear white so you likely will safe to do so regardless. Here  are the reasons why Hindu women or widows wear a white saree for funeral. First reason is  traditionally if a wife loses her husband she is expected to give up all claims to all forms of worldly  pleasures and happiness. Another reason why widows wear only white is that the colour basically as a symbolism of infertility, asexuality, asceticism and death. So thereby, restricting the attire to white  seems like a conscious effort to create a definite distinction of certain people from major part of the  society.

 Furthermore, the most common practice which is even upheld today is that when a widow  dons white she has willfully taken upon abstinence for life. Once a women is widowed, she is forbidden from marrying or taking a lover. Some even associate wearing white as a way to demarcate a  widow as an  “untouchable” for any another man and wearing white is a clear indication for the same.

So that it our story about Indian clothes culture which we can tell you guys. That’s just the story of the culture we choose to make an assignment. Only here we can tell about our experience in the   place and learn a lot about traditional clothes is India and so on. We hope readers are happy with our  story we have and hopefully it will be beneficial to all. Thank you for spending your time to read our blog.

 Assalamualaikum and hi everyone, this is our first attempt to do a blog so we are sorry if you get bored by reading our blog as we are not really good at this yet. First of all, we are assigned to do shop interview by our lecturer, Madam Johanna for our weekly assignment. So we choose Hijab Galeria for this assignment because we think this store are perfect for those who was looking for a long scarves that are bidang 50’’ and above. 

When we enter the Hijab Galeria, we were welcome with a greeting and a lovely smile by one of the staff who works there at that time. She agreed when we said we want to interview her by asking some questions about the store because the owner are not around at that time. She was called Syakira and she was a very friendly person.

Hijab Galeria have their branch in Penang and Bangi,Selangor. In Penang, you can find this branch at Medan Perniagaan Pauh Jaya, Bukit Mertajam Pulau Pinang which only 4.3km from UiTM Permatang Pauh and the other branch is in Bangi Sentral. Hijab Galeria are open at 10am and close at 6pm. Customer can go shopping there everyday because the boutique are open daily.

One thing we want to do more of on our blog is interviewing and promoting Muslimah boutique who runed by this lovely married couple, Mr Azam and Mrs Rohani in this business. Hijab Galeria has already started their business for 5 years since 2013. We think it is very important to show support to our lovely married couple and give our customs to them. 

We personally only buy shawls, scarves and dresses from online stores, when possible. People often have worries about quality, and security but most companies allow customers to review items and blog about it and recommend through other social media. So good stores are always recommended and well reviewed. For the customers who was thinking want to buy Hijab Galeria’s product but worried about the quality can come to the shop and feels the fabric itself.

The delightful Hijab Galeria, a business owned by this lovely married couple. Hijab Galeria are purposely small boutique where you can find hijabs, scarves, shawls and dresses for muslimah wear. Their design are very fashionable, beautiful and coulourful design. Lovely hijabs and fashionista , that are great for everyday casual and evening wear good quality and at a affordable price with good quality. The design are suitable for all age.

Hijab Galeria has produce various type of product such as Khimar, Bawal Guzel, Bawal Rossa and etc. Bawal Guzel are consider as the cheapest item at the store beacuse it only cost you RM15.
